Mackenzie visit' |
Lord Mackenzie of Luton, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at
the Department of Work and Pensions recently visited Communitas and the
Better West Midlands Project. The project, funded by ESF co-financing
arrangements, and run by a consortium of trade unions, helped over
5,000 people made redundant by manufacturing firms return to
work. The trade union consortium recently successfully tendered
for another project delivering support to redundant manufacturing
sector workers. Lord Mackenzie indicated that trade union led
partnerships were the way forward with respect to redundancy support
and commented:
“This is a fantastic project that fits four square with government policy”
